Apart from its aesthetically pleasing cover, this book by D.T. Suzuki influenced forever the way I write. There is – true to theme – an incredible level of clarity in his short, simple sentences. It ends in a way unlike any other book I have read.
Original brush logo artwork for Attum. All my life, I have only used pencil and pen in my practise. I began to realise that this decision, which I thought was very conscious, had everything to do with my unconscious need for control. I had chosen to work with tools that allowed for the absolute highest level of precision and control, shying away from any technique that could get messy. The Attum logotype is a result of random play with the ink brush. Looking at it now, it holds an energy that few of my other works do. I believe this has everything to do with just what I initially feared: the absence of control.
